Having a biological child is an experience many of our gay parents never thought would be possible for them; thanks to technology and would-be gestational carriers, that is no longer the case. Pitter Patter believes that everyone should hear the pitter-patter of little feet.
Does my surrogate live in a state that will protect my rights as a dad?
Sadly, not all states are gay-friendly we will discuss the current legal situation in your surrogates home state and if you’d like arrange a consultation with a lawyer in her state so you can discuss your legal situation directly.
Will I be able to go on the birth certificate? And how will I/we be listed? Some states will list the biological father necessitating a second parent adoption other states will issue a pre-birth order with both dads listed. When matching we will provide this information so you can make an informed decision.
Surrogacy for heterosexual intended parents and same-sex intended parents is similar; there are just a few factors that differ. It's essential to understand your rights as parents, and what the surrogacy laws are in your state or country, and in the state in which your gestational carrier lives. That's why you have us and our advanced network of legal professionals to make sure you and your child are protected.
Please visit Men Having Babies to learn more about options and support for gay parenting. We are proud to be a part of their program and offer our dads discounts to make surrogacy more affordable.
